Excursion: La Ciaccia – Castelsardo – Badesi – La Ciaccia
Difficulty level: easy to medium Length: 53 km Total ascent/descent: 616 m Altitude difference: 184 m
This tour leads to the beaches along the local coast. Kilometers of wide sandy beaches and charming coves await. The route winds along the rocky coastline toward Castelsardo. After a short ride, you’ll reach the small bay of Baia Ostina.
Continuing on, the route takes you through Castelsardo, and after passing the marina and fishing port, you arrive at the small locality of Lu Bagnu. This beach features sandy stretches interspersed with small rocky islets.
After a short rest or a swim, the route continues in the direction of the Elephant Rock (a mystical burial site). From there, you return to the sea at San Pietro beach in Valledoria. After a refreshing break by the water, the road follows the Coghinas River and passes through the Badesi dunes area, leading to Badesi Mare beach.
On the way back, depending on your desire for another swim, you can stop at Maragnani and La Ciaccia.
The water temperature in La Ciaccia already reaches a pleasant 20?°C by mid-May. In summer, the “refreshing waters” can reach 27–28?°C. Even by the end of October or early November, it’s still possible to plan a beach holiday when temperatures remain warm around 20?°C.
