Excursion La Ciaccia-Trinità-Valle della luna-Aggius-Viddalba-La Ciaccia
Difficulty level: media Length: 86 km Total of ascent/discent: 1.969 m Diff. altimetric: 682 m
This tour combines the sea with the nearby mountains: it starts from the coast of La Ciaccia and ascends the first hill to reach Trinità. Along the way, you’ll be able to admire wild and unspoiled landscapes.
The road will lead you through the famous Valley of the Moon. This is a valley covered with granite rocks towering several meters high, their shapes sculpted over time by wind and rain into bizarre and unique formations. For a moment, you might feel as though you’ve landed on the moon.
After this unexpected, surreal sight, the route continues to Aggius, a charming village rich in history. Its streets, houses, and church are all built entirely of granite. Today, the village is renowned for its handwoven wool carpets and traditional choral singing. The many cafés in the village offer a pleasant place to pause and relax.
Continuing on, you’ll tackle the second climb of the day toward Bortigiadas. But your efforts will be rewarded with an exhilarating descent and stunning sea views...
